What We’ve Been Reading

July 15, 2011

As state battles against Planned Parenthood heat up, we think Pro-Choice Champion Rosa DeLauro said it best, “The country wants to trust women, and the Republican Party doesn’t trust women.”

Don’t miss the editorial from the New York Times this week. It underscores the critical role the courts have played in blocking some of the restrictions we’ve seen passed in the states.

NPR covers the new Guttmacher Institute report released earlier this week. Did you know that in 2011 there have been 80 anti-abortion restrictions enacted? In previous years the record was 34 in 2005.

More racist anti-choice billboards were removed in Oakland. Woohoo! Congrats!

Sad news from New York City as a judge blocked the CPC disclosure law from going into effect.

More sad news this week as we learned we lost a Feminist hero, Betty Ford.
